Remus Crux


The incompetent replacement for Skulduggery as the lead detective for the Sanctuary. He is a fool and an idiot (China says in The Faceless Ones: "Oh my god..." China stared at him. "You are actually thicker than you look."), but knows a secret concerning China Sorrows about Skulduggery's rebirth, that, if he knew, would crush him, and frequently uses it to blackmail China into doing things for him. Crux says to China, "Do you think he knows what you did? What am I talking about? Of course he doesn't. If he knew, you'd be dead, am I right?" implying that China did something involving Skulduggery's resurrection that Skulduggery wouldn't have been pleased with. Crux arrests Valkyrie right after her parents leave for Paris, and tries to arrest her again during The Battle of Aranmore Farm, but ultimately fails. Also, during the Battle, his mind was broken as he looked up at a Faceless One as it passed over him searching for a "vessel". In the fourth book, he has began to worship the faceless ones, and he ends up joining the Revenge Club. He is a member of the revengers club, although slightly insane from the brief glimpse of the faceless one in book 3. China shoots him after he threatens telling other people about the secret, and he dies.
